Cookroom Crewleader

Plover, WI - $28.70-$31.70 / Hr

The purpose of this position is to safely maintain and operate all Root Crop and Green Bean plant Cookroom equipment and perform assigned responsibilities to produce a commercially sterile canned product that meets or exceeds the safety, quality and productivity standards. In addition, this position works with other plant personnel in a team environment and complies with company policy, regulatory and company standards.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain Cookroom operation equipment to include associated conveyors and can tracks to ensure proper function and productivity.
  • Operate Cookroom equipment in a manner that maintains compliance with current processes and procedures and assures a safe, quality product for consumption.
  • Knowledge of and experience in critical control points for Cookroom processes. Ability to complete audits and maintain all required thermal processing, weight and can seam integrity records.
  • Train and lead seasonal employees.
  • Direct impact on the equipment and processes that affect the quality and safety of our canned goods received by the consumer.
  • Ensures compliance with all approved and applicable safety rules in the employee's area of responsibility.
  • Supports and facilitates the implementation of the facility's Continuous Improvement (C.I.) initiatives.
  • Responsible for cleanliness of working area and production zones.
  • Ability to work together with employees within your department and within other departments.
  • Assist on projects or work in different departments as needed or requested by your supervisor.

Qualifications
  • Post high school mechanical maintenance training or 3-5 years’ experience.
  • Proven mechanical aptitude.
  • Machinist skills or training are advantageous.
  • Welding and torch cutting experience.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate in English, to include both writing legibly and speaking.
  • Computer Experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Work cooperatively with co-workers while giving and receiving information.
  • Perform other assigned duties requested by supervisor.
  • Welding and torch cutting experience.
  • Train and lead the seasonal crew in the canning room during pack, ensure compliance with product certification specifications and requirements.
  • Potential for irregular work schedules/overtime due to fluctuating production needs.
  • Capable of occasionally lifting and carrying various items that may weigh up to 75lbs.
  • Capability of working on machinery in a variety of adverse positions including crawling, squatting, kneeling, etc.
  • Must provide own tool set to perform assigned duties.
  • Good attendance record.
