Seasonal Forklift Operator

Our Modesto production plant in California is hiring employees to work in pack season approximately July through November. There are some positions that require worker availability in the offseason requiring continued availability to work. Starting pay is based on position and overtime is available after 40 hours. Hours are 8 hours per shift; 6 days a week.


The Warehouse Lift Driver, under the direct supervision of the Distribution Supervisor, will perform a variety of routine shipping, receiving, production and housekeeping tasks utilizing both stand-up and sit-down lift trucks. Shipping tasks include, but not limited to picking, staging and shipment of orders. Receiving tasks include, but not limited to loading and unloading truck/rail shipments and stocking the warehouse. Production tasks include, but not limited to material handling, machine operation.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare orders for shipment in accordance with the pick ticket and customer requirements
  • Stage finished product for loading
  • Load finished product onto truck and/or railcar
  • Receive and unload raw materials from truck and/or railcar
  • Operate forklift in loading and unloading material and equipment
  • Move raw materials to warehouse storage location
  • Responsible for quality control. No damaged product is sent out. No damaged raw material is accepted in
  • Inspect shipments for damages, loss or defects and notify Supervisor of findings
  • Operate shrink-wrap machine
  • Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA’s)
  • Maintains good housekeeping and clean work areas in assigned work area
  • Assures that all work assigned to position is performed in accordance with specifications, instructions and requirements
  • Demonstrates ability to meet production standards on specific assignments in accordance with established productivity standards
  • Must be able to stand/sit for up to 8+ hours/shift, and able to bend, lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to follow written/verbal instructions
  • Must follow all safety and working rules

Qualifications
  • Must be certified and qualified to operate a lift truck.
  • Ability to operate sit-down and stand-up lifts.
  • Ability to high stack.
  • Ability to operate “Special Equipment” including:
  • High-lifts with a capacity to stack and unstuck at least four standard pallets high (16’6” or higher)
  • Clamp-type lifts
  • Push/pull pack lifts
  • Lift trucks with a load capacity of 12,000 or more pounds used for handling multiple pallet loads.
  • Drive a lift truck in cold storage areas approximately zero degrees (F) temperature.
  • Must work in a safe manner and follow all safety procedures including use of safety equipment.
  • Ability to make decisions when identifying in-process problems.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of job assignments.
Education and/or Experience
  • Has demonstrated ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently
  • Must have minimum two (2) years of warehouse experience in shipping or receiving
  • Must have the ability to read, analyze and understand written and/or verbal instructions
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit for 8+ hours/shift
  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. on an occasional basis.
  • Must be able to bend/stoop/squat/twist, kneel and turn throughout workday, for varying lengths of time.
  • Must be able to reach with hands and arms below shoulder level to above shoulder level.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
